I was challenged on Facebook by my dear friend KJ (since I'm fond of shoutouts, shoutout to KJ) to do that five-day thankfulness challenge: each day, I'll post (at least) three things that I'm thankful for. One of the things you need to know about me is that I'm a HUGE proponent of thankfulness: I think it's one of God's many gifts to us, and it lifts my spirits all the time. I'm not going to challenge or nominate any one person to take this challenge -- first of all, I find that kind of awkward; second, though, I really wish that everyone, including myself, would be more thankful. This isn't just for me or my friends. Everyone could use a bit more joy in their lives. 1. I am thankful that I am loved. Jesus has declared me worthy of love and pursuit, because He loves and pursues me. By that fact alone, I am worth loving. I am so thankful that God is teaching me this a little more every day. I am so thankful for the way God sees me: I am not defined by my brokenness, but by the fact that Christ loves me. I am loved and lovable -- and so are you.

2. I am thankful for my friends. I have done nothing to deserve these amazing people that somehow still want to be around me day after day. I am so thankful for their listening ears and encouraging words. They strengthen me and inspire me. I love sharing in their lives, both joy and tears. I hope I can be the friend to them that they have been to me.

3. I am thankful for music and singing.

I hope everyone has a happy day. Remember: you are valuable and worthy of love. Jesus says so, and at the end of the day and its beginning, that's all that matters.
